Best Wedding Venues in Nashville & Murfreesboro, TN

I've photographed weddings in ballrooms, barns, backyards, state parks, and a few places that didn't have a name or a sign out front. After all of that, here's what I've learned: the venue matters less than most couples think, and the light matters more than almost anyone tells you.

That said, some venues do make my job significantly easier — and some make it harder. Here's my honest take on the best options across Nashville and Murfreesboro, based on what actually shows up in the final images.

Venues Worth Knowing About

Legacy Farms

One of the most photographically generous venues I've worked at in Middle Tennessee. The property is expansive — rolling fields, mature trees, and a main structure that handles light well at almost any time of day. What I appreciate most is the variety: within a few hundred feet you have open sky for dramatic portraits, shaded areas for softer light, and architectural details that give ceremony and reception images real texture. It holds up across every season, which isn't something you can say about every venue. If you want a lot of visual range without anyone getting in a car, Legacy Farms delivers it.

Macca Villa

An intimate, European-influenced property with a character that's genuinely hard to find in Tennessee. The architecture, the gardens, the materials — it all photographs with a timelessness that works especially well for couples who want their images to feel like they could have been taken anywhere. The scale is personal without feeling small. I've found it works beautifully for ceremonies and portrait sessions where the environment is supposed to feel like part of the story, not just a backdrop. The details here are worth slowing down for.

Stones River Country Club

Classic and reliable in the best sense. The grounds are well-maintained and give me consistent light for outdoor portraits, and the interior has the kind of clean, neutral elegance that doesn't compete with the couple for attention. It's a venue that stays out of the way — which sounds like faint praise but genuinely isn't. Some locations have so much going on visually that the people in the photographs become secondary. Stones River avoids that entirely. It's also centrally located in Murfreesboro, which makes logistics simple for guests traveling from Nashville or further out.

What to Look For (and What to Watch Out For)

Before you book anything, I'd encourage you to think about light. Specifically: where does the sun come in during your ceremony? If your ceremony is at 2pm in a venue with no windows, we're working with artificial light, and that changes the look of your images significantly. Not bad — just different. Worth knowing in advance.

I'd also ask about getting-ready spaces. The hour before the ceremony is full of the most emotional and candid moments of the day, and the light in those spaces matters. A bridal suite with large windows and soft natural light is worth far more than one with overhead fluorescents.
